Community Outreach

Faith without works, James wrote, is dead.  Just as love produces fruit, so a living faith will also produce fruit.  Our desire as children of God then should be not only to proclaim the Gospel, but also to live it out in a tangible way.

Lisa goes to New York

Picture
On April 1st Samaritan's Purse responded to New York City's call for help due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  With nearly half of all U.S. cases at that time occurring in New York City, medical centers were overrun and in desperate need of added capacity.

Samaritan's Purse opened an Emergency Field Hospital in Central Park adjacent to The Mount Sinai Hospital, the main facility of the Mount Sinai Health System to provide additional specialized care for victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Central Park Emergency Field Hospital was staffed by a number of disaster response specialists, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, lab technicians, and other critical support personnel. Among them was Lisa.

Nepal

As you are likely aware, COVID-19 is a world wide issue.  Some areas of the world have been hit harder than others and lock downs have been different in different areas.  Nepal has been on a very strict lock down making food challenging for some.

Because of your faithful giving, as a church, we were able to respond to the call for help in the form of rice, beans and cooking oil!  Christian persecution remains high in Nepal and those giving aid face steep penalties.  For this reason, we can't post the pictures of the relief efforts, but know that you had a hand in helping the hungry!

Stroll-in-the-Glow 2019

Every year the Avenue of the Fountains is closed, shops stay open late and serve holiday treats and beverages, musicians play holiday music on the sidewalks.  This year Desert Creek joined in the fun to hand out candy and invite everyone to our Christmas Eve Service!
